As I am moving on in time and looking at all the beautiful miniature kits on Facebook or Youtube, I realized that there are more brands than just the ones I have talked about in a previous article. So today, we are diving deeper into these 2 brands called Hongda miniature kits and Hoomeda DIY house kits.
Updated 04/07/23
So let’s go and dive deeper into my research and experiences!
As an Amazon and Etsy associate, I earn a small commission from your purchase, with no extra charges for you.
1. Guangzhou Hondga miniature kits.
Finding more information than written on the boxes was rather hard to find, but here we go :
– Guangzhou Hondga craft co., Ltd was founded in 2009. They are focused on researching, developing, producing, and selling DIY manual products.
– Makes all kinds of dollhouse kits, in different levels, but all size scale 1:24.
– makes some small houses and furniture, but also (very) large houses, so I think that is the main difference between this company and Robotime (aka Rolife).
– has different styles: villa style, Chinese, Japanese, shop, boy, modern style, and finally DIY furniture series.
Place(s) to buy: AliExpress ( lots of choices) , or Amazon. (so you can compare prices)
Price: variable, depending on the size.
Beware! The prices can be very different on Amazon, compared to AliExpress, or the other way around. Look at the examples in these 2 pictures! Plus, it is possible to get first-time coupons, etc, so look out before you decide where to buy.
AliExpress:
Amazon:
Warranty: 30-day refund or replacement
Content:
– papercuts
– The instruction manual (in Chinese)
– wooden pieces
– scissors
– cardboard pieces
– fabrics
– different kinds of wires
– battery’s
– beads
– a led lamp
– a ruler
– glue ( if not included, you could use the same glue which is used for the kits from Rolife called Grab Fast Tacky Glue )
A TIP: I would definitely buy a ‘Fingertip Craft knife‘ from Fiskars, they are amazingly handy!
The Good & the Bad :
The Good:
– They look easier to make than the ones from Robotime (not so many plants and books or furniture made out of wires etc..)
– I love that some are stackable and that they have bigger dollhouses!
– If you compare the same sizes to the ones from Robotime, they look more affordable
– no missing pieces
– very adjustable to your own taste
– most of them are made rather quickly, not as long as the ones from Robotime (with over 50 hours some of them).
The Bad:
– The instruction manual is in Chinese, BUT people tend to find it easy to just use the pictures 🙂 Plus you could watch Youtube videos like this one. OR use the camera feature in the Google Translate app, then you get an instant translation!
– As these are all from China, transportation to the US, Europe, or Australia can take a long time. BUT don’t worry, they will arrive! I have seen people with positive comments on this issue 😉
– Could have less quality in some parts
Hongda Support.
I have found an email address: Happyli@hongda-diy.com and a Facebook page. (not much action though on it)
Extras:
They also sell houses that include dust covers. (way cheaper than the ones from Robotime!).
And cuuute little Christmas balls!
My Final Opinion of Hongda Miniature Kits.
I give these 4 stars only because the quality doesn’t seem to be as good as the ones from Robotime. But they sure are easy to make and I love how you can buy really big houses, those can keep you busy for hours and hours!
UPDATE
I asked for their catalog on Facebook and got a PDF file in my mailbox! If you like, I could send it to you as well, just contact me: contact@everythingverysmall.com.
2. ‘Hoomeda DIY Dollhouse kit.
I haven’t found any website at all for this brand for miniature kits, but I did find more information about the products of this brand, so let’s dive into straight into it.
– seems to also make kits for pieces of furniture, room boxes, and bigger dollhouse kits. Very expanded.
– scale 1:24
Place(s) to buy: Amazon
Price: variable, depending on the size.
As in number one:
Beware! The prices can be very different on Amazon, compared to AliExpress, or the other way around. Look at the examples in these 2 pictures! Plus, it is possible to get first-time coupons, etc, so look out before you decide where to buy.
AliExpress:
Amazon:
Warranty: AliExpress has 90 days of buyer protection. For Amazon: please contact the seller.
Content:
– papercuts
– The instruction manual (in Chinese)
– wooden pieces
– scissors
– cardboard pieces
– fabrics
– different kinds of wires
– battery’s
– beads
– a led lamp
– a ruler
– glue ( again, you can buy the same glue that is included in the kits from Rolife if you run out of it on Amazon )
A TIP: As I mentioned for the brand above, using a ‘Fingertip Crafting knife‘ from Fiskars is very handy!
The Good & the Bad :
The Good:
– lots and lots of good reviews of each product separately on Banggood specifically. From 4 stars to 5 stars, that is why I gave a 4 and a half stars in general.
– the quality is good enough
– takes less time to complete than miniature kits from Robotime for example
– directions easy to follow
– perfect for starters
The Bad:
– the manual is in Chinese, but again, you can easily follow the pictures or watch lots of Youtube clips or use the camera from the Google translate app.
– I think that the design looks less cute than the kits from Robotime, but that is just a personal opinion I guess!
– shipping from China can take a long time.
Extras:
– some of the kits are also working as a music box! 🙂
– they also sell tiny ‘tin’ boxes, perfect as a gift for a kid!
My Final Opinion of Hoomeda Miniature Kits.
I give these kits from Hoomeda 4 and a half stars, because the overall quality, and there are lots of them. The design is a matter of taste, so I will leave that up to you if you like it or not. After all, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, right?
My final conclusion.
As you could see, not every miniature kit is available or plentiful on Amazon. As most of these kits are made in China, it is sometimes worthwhile to have a look at AliExpress and find some real treasures or bigger dollhouse kits!
Now, these are all pretty modern and the designs are very simple. If that is not up to your taste, you can always look at the kits from Robotime.

Hi everyone!
My name is Lizzy, and I am an amateur miniaturist obsessed with everything in the dollhouse and miniature world, ever since I was a teenager.
So far, I have created 2 dollhouse projects, a backyard shed and a miniature treehouse, tons of DIY dollhouse kits, and “hacked” some.
I also created a fairy garden, and lots of small and simple miniature projects on my YouTube channel. (mostly made from trash or everyday items).
I love to write as well about all things happening in the miniature world, hence the reason why I created this blog!
I wish you happy reading and crafting!
Lizzy
These dollhouse kits look very charming, and they are an excellent idea for a hobby. I always wanted a dollhouse when I was a child. It looks like it’s not too late as an adult. It’s also good that they have different kits for different skill levels, as well as having both traditional and modern houses.
I totally agree with you and also love that there are different skill levels for these kits. Because for the ones from Robotime, you would need to have almost the same handiness for each one 😉 (some take more time than others)
Happy crafting!
Best regards,
Lizzy
