We all know brands of DIY house kits like Rolife, and Cutebee, right? But there are quite a few other DIY miniature houses and book nook brands out there that don't get nearly as much attention. (yet)

Some are fairly new, while others have been around for a while but might still be unfamiliar to you.

I've been looking into a few 'new' ones, after I was changing an older article, and I thought I'd share what I found. (These are mostly not reviews yet, except number 1)

1. Anavrin – From Miniature Streets book nooks to Fantasy Worlds

Let's start with Anavrin, because this is one brand I actually have quite a bit of experience with.

I've built lots of their kits over the years, and if you've followed my blog, you've probably seen a few of them already.

Anavrin is known for its detailed book nooks inspired by real places, but they also have some lovely fantasy-themed designs.

A few examples from their collection and the ones I made myself:

  • Omoide Yokocho – inspired by the narrow alleyways of Tokyo.
  • Kowloon Walled City 2049 – a futuristic take on Hong Kong's famous Kowloon Walled City.
  • Old Shanghai – a nostalgic Chinese street scene.
  • Hollow Willow – a whimsical fantasy setting with a magical woodland atmosphere. Based on the lord of the rings with a music box
  • The Cat's Crossing – a cozy, cat-themed miniature library full of little details.

So, if you're not particularly interested in miniature city streets, there are other themes to choose from.

Since I've built all of the above Anavrin kits myself, you can also find my building process and review of them 🙂

While this brand is not really 'New', I wanted to mention it, because it has been 'renewed' a lot over the years. I've talked about that here.

2. Tonecheer – Book Nooks, Fantasy Scenes, and Miniature Shops

Have you heard of Tonecheer?

They've been around for a while, but I don't think they're quite as well known as Rolife, at least among dollhouse builders.

Tonecheer has quite a variety of DIY kits, including fantasy book nooks, miniature libraries, shops, and little buildings.

If you like magical bookshops and cozy miniature interiors, there's plenty to browse. They also have freestanding miniature houses, so it's not all book nooks.

I haven't personally built one of their kits yet, but I think their collection is worth checking out.

3. MiniCity – A Newer Name in Book Nooks

MiniCity is one of the newer brands on this list. It was founded in late 2022 and released its first kit, Alice's Evidence, in 2023.

They mainly focus on book nooks, with some rather unusual designs.

For example, they have a larger range called MAX Book Nooks, including Beyond Library MAX. They've also introduced miniature scenes that open up like books.

That's something I find interesting, because book nooks don't all have to follow the same narrow, rectangular design.

If you're looking for something a little different to put on your bookshelf, MiniCity is worth a look.
