I have crafted a miniature house from popsicle sticks myself, and will do more in the future, but I really love all the other examples that I see on Youtube and Instagram, etc.
Also, I think that making one with these sticks, could be a wonderful fifth addition to my fairy houses, don't you think? ( yes yes, I am working on a 4th one π ).
How would you like to build a miniature house out of popsicle sticks? This project is fun and educational at the same time. The result is a cute little home that looks great in any room.
This DIY project would also look perfect for kids who love building things.
Itβs also a good way to teach them about geometry and engineering principles, so let's dive straight into things!
Also, you can learn how to cut popsicle sticks on my blog as well, if you're not sure how to!
Why Use Popsicle Sticks For A Miniature House?
Popsicles are a classic summer treat, but they also come in handy during cold winter months.
Popsicle sticks are inexpensive and readily available, even in crafting stores.

They can be easily cut into various shapes and sizes, and that is exactly what crafters around the world are doing in all kinds of crafting projects.
If you are curious about all these different projects and more ideas, I would very much advise taking a look at this Pinterest account.
There are birdhouses, little DIY projects for kids, baskets and boxes, decorations and wall art, and so much more.
The only limit to what you can craft with popsicle sticks is your imagination!
As for miniatures and dollhouses: I will show lots of examples below, but how about having a first look at one of my own projects: a miniature chair made from popsicles, just to get an idea?
Which Materials Do You Need To Craft With Popsicle Sticks?
The materials that people tend to use to craft these little cute houses and miniatures seem to vary a little bit, especially the glue part, but basically, this is a list of the things you need:
- Popsicle sticks ( yeah obviously, Lizzy π ).
Depending on the project, you can use both sizes in the same project: popsicle sticks in 1 x 11.5cm, and popsicle sticks in 2 x 15cm.
Try to find out how many sticks you will need for a certain project, but for a small project, it will be about 100 of them.
- You can even add toothpicks! (or just use toothpicks, but that's a story for another day). For this, you would also need specific scissors to cut toothpicks.
- Glue, which one is up to you: a glue gun and glue sticks, wood glue, simple craft glue, or superglue. This would also depend on how fast you want parts to glue together.
- Little miniature trees or plants can add something special to your popsicle project, and;
- Miniature LED light strings to make your little house glow from the inside!
- A pencil and paper.
- A utility knife

- It is better to always draw a building plan or sketch before you start building a small house.
Having all measurements worked out before actually crafting it is always a good thing, as I found out the hard way π
