When it comes to picking the right bark, know that thicker, sturdier pieces work best. They're durable and provide a solid base for your fairy house.

Just be sure to source your bark responsibly, ideally from fallen branches or trees, to ensure you're not harming any living plants.

• Brush off any dirt or loose pieces, and if needed, let it dry out until it's no longer damp.
• To prevent it from crumbling, you can sometimes coat the bark with a clear sealer, which also gives it a nice finish.
