Winter’s coming- before you know it- so let’s bring it indoors with easy and fun ways to build a cozy miniature snow village. From fake snow to icy details and festive accessories, I’ll show you how to winterize your dollhouse step by step.

1. How to create fake snow?

Of course, you could just get artificial snow to create your miniature snow village, as it exists in several forms and shapes.

You can find it on Amazon in the form of fake snowflakes ,

but also in the form of instant snow powder, or

even in the form of a snow blanket.

So the only thing you would need to do is glue and attach this to your miniature snow village or snow house 😉

Then again, why not create fake snow yourself? There are several ways, and you might already have the ingredients in your home!

( For extra sparkly snow, add some white or iridescent glitter)

  • Method 1: baking soda and shaving foam

First, empty the can of shaving foam and pour the package of baking soda over it. Mix and knead this mixture until it is totally hard.

You can now create a sturdy snowman, for example, or your little winter landscape.

  • Method 2= baking soda, cornstarch & water

Using these 3 ingredients, you can also make fake snow, and below in the video, a mom and her daughter will explain to you how 😉

Don't forget to give the video a "thumbs up"!

  • Method 3= baking soda, wood glue, and some white paint

For this method, regular wood glue, baking soda, and a few drops of white acrylic paint are used.

How to mix it all together is explained again in the next video below ( a video says so much more than in writing, no?).

Again, make sure to support this person and give the video a thumbs up!

Now, what form of fake snow you will use will depend on what you are going to do with it.

Is it just some flakes of snow in winter time or do you want your dollhouse to be covered in snow the whole year through? It is totally up to you!

But keep in mind to use something "non-sticky" when you want to remove the "snow" in springtime!

Keep in mind though, when keeping the snow a whole year through, that you WILL gather unremovable dust 😉

2. How to create miniature icicles?

This idea of creating miniature icicles popped up in my head, and I couldn't let it go, as it seemed quite hard for me to do.

Stubborn me kept looking, and there wasn't a lot to find out there, but I did come across this short video on Youtube by MsMiniLover and I subscribed to her channel!

So what you need is: a hot glue gun, a piece of glass to place your icicles on and a bowl of water to cool them down, that's it! Just follow the procedure in the video 😉

You can also buy miniature icicle sticks on Amazon:
