While some time ago, I was used to getting a type of glue included in the dollhouse kits such as from Robotime/Rolife, I never get that type of glue included anymore, do you?
Well, fair enough, it wasn't all to bad, but they had one LARGE CON, and that was the dreadful threads it gave! Such as Miller's Garden.
Ever since then, I have never seen those little bottles of glue anymore, but that's not a very bad thing, as there are much better glues on the market.
The next guide explores various types of glue recommended by enthusiasts and hobbyists, including my own insights.
Grab Fast Tacky Glue
Description: Grab Fast Tacky Glue is a variant of tacky glue known for its quick-grab formula, providing a strong initial hold.

Why It's Recommended:
- Quick Grab: Offers a fast initial bond, reducing the need for clamping.
- Precision: Thick consistency allows for precise application, minimizing mess.
- Versatility: Suitable for various materials like wood and paper found in DIY kits.
Application Tips:
- Use sparingly to prevent excess glue.
- Utilize a fine-tipped applicator for precise application.
- Wipe off any excess immediately with a damp cloth.
- use toothpicks to apply very small amounts
Wood Glue
Description: Wood glue, such as Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue, is designed for strong wood-to-wood bonding.
Why It's Recommended:
- Strength: Provides a durable bond ideal for wooden parts. (especially the dollhouse furniture)
- Penetration: Penetrates wood fibers for a secure joint.
Application Tips:
- Clamp or hold pieces together until fully set.
- Clean excess glue with a damp cloth before it dries.
Superglue (Cyanoacrylate)
Description: Superglue, like Loctite Super Glue or Gorilla Super Glue, creates a fast and strong bond on various materials.
Why It's Recommended:
- Speed: Bonds instantly.
- Strength: Perfect for small, delicate parts.
Cautions:
- Use sparingly to avoid residue.
- Apply with precision using a toothpick or fine-tip applicator.
Additional Tips and Glue Types
Toothpicks:
- As I mentioned, these are handy for applying precise amounts of glue and spreading it evenly.
Textile Glue for Fabrics:
- I prefer to use textile glue for tasks like chair upholstery where flexibility and strength are crucial.
Best Glue for Dollhouse Wallpaper:
- Elmer’s Disappearing Purple School Glue Stick offers a clean, easy application for wallpaper. It provides a thin, even layer of adhesive for secure bonding without damaging the wallpaper.
Conclusion
Choosing the right glue for assembling DIY kits from Robotime/Rolife or Cutebee depends on the materials involved and the desired bond strength.
Grab Fast Tacky Glue is excellent for quick initial bonding, while wood glue ensures strong wood-to-wood joints.
Superglue is perfect for instant bonding of small parts.
Utilizing tools like toothpicks for precise glue application and selecting specialized adhesives like textile glue for specific materials enhance the quality and durability of your projects.
If you use these tips, you will already avoid quite some frustrations! 🙂
