So last week, I talked about everything you needed to know about Blythe dolls. But now is the question: which places can I trust to get good quality dolls, and also specific Blythe doll clothes?
Today, I will try to help you out with that and review 5 stores that sell (custom-made) Blythe dolls, accessories, clothes/ and more.
Let’s get straight into things.
But first: why would you want to get custom Blythe doll clothes?
Dressing up your Blythe doll is so much part of the fun of owning these types of dolls.
Off course, you can find mass-produced clothing for your Blythe dolls in stores and online, but it can be so much fun to have custom-made Blythe doll’s clothing because it sets you apart from the rest!
Let me share a few advantages of custom-made clothes:
- First, custom-made Blythe doll clothes usually have a much higher quality than mass-produced clothing.
- When you order a custom-made outfit for your Blythe doll, you can ask some designers for your own choice of fabrics, colors and style that suits you and which is perfectly tailored to your doll!
- When you dress up your Blythe dolls in a custom-made outfit, you are not limited to what’s available in stores, and you will have clothes that you won’t find anywhere else.
- The last advantage is that you are supporting independent designers and artisans who are passionate about their craft!
When you purchase a custom-made Blythe outfit, you will be supporting a small business that creates handmade things, which is always a good thing!

How to create your own Blythe doll clothes?
Would you like to sew your own Blythe doll clothes? Of course, this is totally possible as well.
And there are multiple tutorials online on how to do this, as you can see in the video below:
Can Blythe dolls wear Barbie clothes?
Yes, Blythe dolls can definitely wear most clothes from Barbie, especially the stretchy ones. The only thing that won’t fit on a Blythe doll, are the long pants from Barbie.
Both the Blythe dolls and Barbie have the same height, but you need to consider the big head of the Blythe doll when trying on Barbie clothes.
Just 1 More Thing: Look Out For FAKE Blythe Dolls! How can you tell if a Blythe doll is real?
Beware: If you encounter a Blythe doll that has the words “Factory”, “TBL” or “nude doll” with no actual release name in the description, then it is possible that you buy a fake Blythe doll. Always check out the reviews of the shop and the other things that they are selling.
TBL means Taobao ‘Blythe’, and it was a website that had Blyth dolls with very imaginative copies of the dolls.
People tend to have different opinions on what’s possibly fake and what’s not, like in the video below.
As I am not specialized in this, I would rather leave it up to you if what the person in this video is saying is correct or not, but it is quite interesting what she has to say on the topic!
My Final Conclusion.
As I mentioned in my previous blog post on Blythe dolls, these are quite intriguing to me and I can imagine that people want to buy them for a vintage collection. I kind of ‘grew’ into them (I wasn’t too enthusiastic about them at first, to be honest).
But my guess is that you are if you ended up on this page haha! So I wish you a lot of fun with your pretty dolls and collection!
My question to you is: will you put them in a dollhouse of your own or just place them somewhere on a shelf?
Please let me know below in a comment or why not tell everybody in my Facebook group? 🙂
Best regards,
Lizzy
Hi everyone!
My name is Lizzy, and I am an amateur miniaturist obsessed with everything in the dollhouse and miniature world, ever since I was a teenager.
So far, I have created 2 dollhouse projects, a backyard shed and a miniature treehouse, tons of DIY dollhouse kits, and “hacked” some.
I also created a fairy garden, and lots of small and simple miniature projects on my YouTube channel. (mostly made from trash or everyday items).
I love to write as well about all things happening in the miniature world, hence the reason why I created this blog!
I wish you happy reading and crafting!
Lizzy
Oh my gosh! These are soooo cute. I honestly can’t decide if I want a full set and a wall-sized dollhouse for them all to live in, or if it would be too scary to have a wall full of miniature dolls that look at me. Some of these even have little elvish ears!
my mother had this thing when we were growing up, we all got to choose 1 thing we wanted to collect when we hit 10 years of age. Now we are trying for kids I am going t make sure my child has a fully informed decision of all the things they can collect before I ask them what they want to collect This has made that list.
Hi Kelly!
Did you know that is actually a thing: people that are scared of dolls? I can imagine that these Blythe dolls can contribute to that haha!
But you are right, these are (and became for me), quite cute! Especially with all of the different accessories out there and the customizations.
I hope that your future kids and yourself will have lots of fun with them!
best regards,
Lizzy
As I love to sew and making crafts, my grand-daughter asked me to make some clothing for her doll, but I got the idea to look for some online stores where my she can pick some new clothing for her doll and of course, I will pay for that, I’m sure she will love to take a look to these two stores on Etsy, and she might find a new dress or two for her doll there, thanks so much for sharing a good tip.
Hi Alejandra,
Thank you so much for your positive comment and I hope that your granddaughter will enjoy the Blythe doll’s clothes!
Best regards,
Lizzy
I enjoy building doll houses and the tiny furniture that goes along with them. I was searching for some kind of quality dolls to put into them and came across your site. These dolls weren’t my first choice but when I got thinking of them I thought that they would add a rather whimsical twist! As handmade doll houses are rather expensive due to their uniqueness, I think that putting these collectable Blyth dolls in would be perfect! I agree that a person wouldn’t want a knock off if you are putting them in an expensive collection but for those occasional collectors that just want to have fun with them and put them on a shelf, the less expensive ones would probably be more desirable.
Hi there!
Yes, these Blythe dolls would not be my first choice either, but several people in my Facebook group have been asking me about them, and then I kind of grew into them haha!
thank you for your comment and
I wish you happy crafting!
Lizzy
