As I said before: it is definitely handy to have a mini craft table saw aka a mini circular saw, to be able to craft dollhouses and miniatures, especially for dollhouse furniture.
I own the “Proxxon 37070 FET Table Saw”now, which is a pretty good machine that I am quite happy about. (see review number 4 below)

But of course, there are other mini table saws that are cheaper as well and enough for your needs, so I am going to review those as well for you today.
Before we go on, you might want to take a look at the safety precautions that you need to take before you start working with these machines.

The Good.
– quite a cheap device
– heavy, which should mean more stable
– very easy to use
– For cutting wood, non-ferrous metals, plastics, Plexiglas, glass fiber reinforced sheets, foam, and many other materials.
The Bad.
– it seems that the metal plate on the device is quite thin, so it is easily dented
– Not suited for ‘heavy duties’ and DIY stuff around the house.

If you’re into small woodwork, I would recommend it.

– should be able to cut 1/8 aluminum and copper and 1:16 brass sheet, balsa wood, and thin wood
– I see lots of miniaturists working with this device
– works good enough for basic dollhouses and miniatures, but:
The Bad.
– not enough power to work on DIY things around the house
– doesn’t seem to cut through polycarbonate sheets, tubing, PVC, barely cuts through 1/8 basswood, etc. So far I think it’s only suitable for thin wood if you ask me! (only up to 1/4″)
– the blade doesn’t tilt/is not adjustable up and down

This little machine was perfect for when I first started out about 10 years ago, learning the ropes (and lots of other miniaturists use this one). I used it for about 6 years, but I sometimes got frustrated that some things I couldn’t cut or work more precisely.
It is perfectly suitable (I think because it is not my niche), to work with model building railways, or for example wooden ships. Or if you never do the heaviest work yourself and only work with miniature kits and such.
It’s a small saw for light work and does a beautiful job within that framework.

On other fora, I have seen people giving this machine 5 stars. So I gave it the benefit of the doubt, with 4 stars 🙂
Final Conclusion
In my opinion, this device looks like the best choice of the three, because for this price there is much more you can cut and do with, also around the house, than the previous table saws. But it is totally up to you, as ever;-)

It works as well for dollhouse furniture and dollhouses, crafting jobs, model building, etc.. As a few light work around the house. As it also cuts non-ferrous metals, plastics, Plexiglas, fiber-glass reinforced sheets, foam, and many other materials.
It is quite stable.
Easy to adjust, cuts easily, and cuts with precision.
The Bad.
The price is somewhat higher
Doesn’t have a speed control
There is no pointer for the fence against marking
Final Conclusion
This is the mini craft table saw that I bought myself many years ago, and I have used it a lot. It still works fine without having to replace parts or parts that break. And if ever it wouldn’t work anymore, I would buy it again!
I use my mini Proxxon table saw for lots of things, and yes, even in the housekeeping haha!
Although I mostly use it for sawing wood, to even the smallest pieces, like for my treehouse (take a look at the pics), you can also use it for aluminum, model material, plastic, and lots of other DIY craftings.
Which table saw is the lightest portable table saw?
The lightest portable table saw at the market at the moment of this writing (11-10-2022 update), seems to be the :
Use safety glasses to not get splinters in your eyes
Use hearing protection
Do NOT scare someone/ distract anyone/ or come too close when they are cutting something, please! If you are going to use the table saw, always warn people beforehand to stay away and not distract them.

Hello Lizzy, crafting is one thing I love doing. Although I am not familiar with Proxxon Circular Saw, I have used some other saw before. The saw I am familiar with is the regular circular saw which is full manual. This Proxxon Circular Saw looks cool for many reasons to me. One major one being that it will make the job faster and more professional. Although it is a bit expensive, it’s worth the value.
Hi Lizzy looking to get one of the mini saws , is there one that is easy to change the blades and also which one produces less noise interested in using 1/4 inch wood , have a big saw but its too intimidating when I only want to make miniature things great information and only want it for hobby crafts some of the prices can be quite high in Canada

In the meantime: the table saw number 2 in this article: the Proxxon 37006 KS is one that really is used a lot in the miniature world, and it was the first one that I bought myself.
It was really more than sufficient, it’s just that my partner wanted a heavier one haha, or I wouldn’t have changed.
I could easily change the blades and I don’t think the noise could be any less than that frankly.
But as I said: I need to dive further into these machines and expand the article so you would have more choices.
When you type mini-table saws on Amazon , you get a few more cheaper machines that you might want to take a look at.
Mind you though: the brands coming from Azia are usually just a cheaper version of the original ones from Proxxon, so I would think that these are less sturdy/will break easier and changing parts will not be that easy.
Also, have a look at the warranty to decide on which one to buy!
