Hello Di!

That is a very good question and I will try to answer it as best as I can.

First of all, the tools you need depend on the materials you would want your mini furniture to be made from.

The more everyday materials you would use, like your papercraft or even cardboard, the less tools you would actually need.

For papercraft and cardboard furniture, you would only need: paper (for papercrafting, easily available on Amazon), cardboard that you can just collect from packages (but clean though), a sharp pair of scissors, and crafting glue, like grab fast tacky glue. (my favorite glue!), and some acrylic paint or decoration stickers.

Check out my mini kitchen for example, where the base is made from cardboard and then has a pretty sticker covering it.

Now, If you would like to create your own dollhouse furniture from wood, for example, that would be a completely different story!

- first off, you need to choose the type of wood you want to use, let's start with that haha, it is a very personal choice

Just using balsa wood can be a great choice, and I use it often. Professionals, however, tend to use birch plywood, or even walnut wood.

- after that, check out the different methods by which this all can be created. It can go from using a Cricut machine to cutting all wood from scratch with a table saw(as I did with my treehouse), or just use a crafting knife if you want to use balsa wood.

Did you know that there are even laser-cutting machines that cut out all the wooden pieces for you?

So, long story short: crafting glue or solid wood glue, scissors, something to cut your wood with, acrylic paint, varnish, and patience, or the basics that you need!

And oh yeah, building plans and tutorials, of course, because you need to learn, but that's not the 'tools' part of your question hahaha!

I wish you happy crafting and thanks for the question!

I have to confess, that all my dollhouse furniture has been bought ready-made.

But, I have been inspired to have a go at creating my own, and wondered what are the most necessary tools.

I already have supplies related to papercrafting, but not sure if they will be suitable for working with other materials.
