The timing of this interview couldn't really be better. With Halloween just around the corner, I know quite a few of you will be looking for something a little darker or more unusual to add to your dollhouse or miniature scenes.

And that brings me to Kristen’s Parlour of Minis!

Kristen makes wonderful 1:12 scale miniatures with a mix of Victorian and Gothic style, from upholstered chairs and ornate furniture to ravens, skulls and all sorts of curious little accessories.

Some would fit perfectly into a Halloween miniature scene, while others could easily find a permanent home in a Victorian or Gothic dollhouse.

What caught my attention, though, wasn't just the style of her work. Kristen has a rather fun story about how she ended up in the miniature world in the first place.

I asked Kristen about how she got started, where her love for Victorian and Gothic miniatures comes from, her favorite things to make and what she has planned next for Kristen’s Parlour of Miniatures.

It All Started With a Tiny Chair

Kristen actually started out making book nooks before moving on to room boxes and smaller individual pieces.

Her first real attempt at making something specifically in 1:12 scale was a chair.

And apparently, it went rather well! Just look at these pictures!

“The first thing I made specifically in 1:12 scale was a chair, and it turned out pretty damn good! I think I surprised myself.”

Of course, once you've successfully made one tiny chair, it's very easy to start thinking, “Well, maybe I can make everything else too.”

Kristen began making more pieces and gradually discovered just how big the dollhouse and miniature world actually is.

“At some point, I realized I was making all these little things that other people might want for their dollhouses. I had no idea how big the dollhouse world was until I got into it!”

The funny thing is that despite making furniture for dollhouses, Kristen doesn't actually own one herself — and she doesn't particularly want one either.

As she says, apparently she's just here to furnish everyone else's!

From Making Miniatures to Selling Them

As Kristen made more pieces, people kept telling her the same thing: “You should sell these!”

Eventually, she decided she might as well find out if they were right and opened her Etsy shop, Parlour of Minis.

She admits that opening the shop felt a little scary at first, but she also had a pretty good way of looking at it.

“I figured the worst that could happen was I'd end up with a lot of tiny furniture and accessories. Which, honestly, was already happening.”

And so Kristen’s Parlour of Miniatures was born.

Today, you'll find all sorts of handmade 1:12 scale pieces in her collection, but there's definitely a recognizable style running through them.

Why Victorian and Gothic Miniatures?

If you've already looked at some of Kristen's work, you've probably noticed that she has a thing for Victorian style — usually with a slightly darker Gothic twist.

And that's not accidental.

Kristen says

" she has always felt as though she was born in the wrong era, although she is quick to add that she does appreciate modern plumbing!"

She loves the detail, romance and elegance of Victorian design, especially when things get a little darker and moodier.

In fact, even when she isn't deliberately trying to make something Gothic, it has a habit of sneaking into her work anyway.

That also explains the name Kristen’s Parlour of Miniatures. She wanted something that would suit her love of Victorian style without limiting the more Gothic side of what she makes.

I think Kristen described it best herself:

“It sounded like somewhere you might find a lovely antique chair, a dramatic mirror, and perhaps a very well-dressed ghost.”

Honestly, that's a pretty accurate description of the shop!

Inspiration Can Come From Just About Anywhere

Kristen doesn't have one particular place where she goes looking for ideas.

Sometimes she'll simply spot a piece of furniture or an interesting detail while she's out and immediately start wondering how she could make a tiny version of it.

She also researches Victorian and Gothic furniture and, of course, there's Pinterest.

We've probably all done this: you see something on Pinterest and think, “Oh, I could make that.”

And suddenly another project has been added to the list.

Did you know that Kristen can create custom dollhouse furniture for you aswell?

Those Tiny Chairs Are Still a Favorite

Considering that this whole adventure more or less started with a chair, it's quite fitting that chairs are still among Kristen's favorite miniatures to make.

A big part of the fun for her is choosing the fabric.

And I can see why, because if you look at her chairs, the upholstery really does give each one a completely different personality.

Kristen jokes that she wishes she knew how to make chairs in human size because she'd probably make a lot more money!

For now, she is sticking to 1:12 scale.

A Gothic Bookcase That Turned Out Just Right

When I asked Kristen if there was one miniature she was particularly proud of, she mentioned her Gothic bookcase.

It was one of her first original designs, which made it a little more special.

And even better, the finished piece actually came out the way she had pictured it in her head.

If you make your own miniatures, you'll know that doesn't always happen!

Then somebody bought it.

So not only did Kristen like her “weird little bookcase,” but somebody else apparently loved it too.

I'd call that a success! And here's another one!

Is There Anything She Hasn't Tried Yet?

Even with everything Kristen already makes, there are still new miniature skills she'd like to try.

One of those is pottery.

She would love to learn how to make her own miniature plates, cups and vases.

Does she really need to add another hobby to the miniature hobby?

Apparently not. Does she still want to?

“Absolutely.”

That sounds very familiar!

Finding Your Hobby at Almost 50

This was probably my favorite part of my questions for Kristen.

She didn't discover miniatures as a child and then spend decades making them. In fact, she was close to 50 when she discovered that this was something she really loved doing.

Before that, she says she had spent years wondering how other people found a hobby they were so passionate about that they actually looked forward to doing it every day.

Then she found miniatures, and suddenly she understood.

So I asked what she would say to somebody looking at her work and thinking, “I could never make something like that.”

Her answer was simple:

“You never know until you try.”

Your first miniature doesn't have to turn out beautifully. Kristen admits that her first chair happened to be pretty good, but she's made plenty of questionable things since then!

I think that's something worth remembering, especially if you're new to making miniatures: you really don't know what you're good at until you give it a try.

What's Next for Kristen’s Parlour of Miniatures?

It doesn't sound as though Kristen is going to run out of ideas anytime soon.

She wants to keep designing new pieces, grow her Etsy shop and attend more miniature shows.

And she has recently added something else to her workshop: a laser cutter. (and I know she will have fun with it, I have so far! )

This may have been dangerous.

According to Kristen, her brain now has about 400 new projects lined up!

There's also something rather exciting coming in 2027, when she plans to vend at the Tom Bishop Chicago International Miniature Show.

Ultimately, Kristen would love to make miniatures full time someday.

Unfortunately, there is still one small obstacle:

“Apparently bills do not accept tiny chairs as payment.”

For now, she's simply enjoying making new things and seeing where Kristen’s Parlour of Miniatures takes her.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed hearing how Kristen ended up in this hobby, discovered a miniature world she hadn't even realized was so big and eventually ended up opening her own Etsy shop.

And all of that happened when she was approaching 50.

I think that's a lovely reminder that you're never too late to stumble across something you absolutely love doing.

These paid files are well-designed, ready-to-cut, and often include multiple file formats along with thickness options. Ideal if you want something polished and easy to work with.

Offers kitchen, bedroom, and accessory kits in SVG, DXF, and other formats. Comes with versions for both 3mm and 4mm wood. Very clean and beginner-friendly.

This download includes a modern three-floor dollhouse plus 32 pieces of miniature furniture. Designed for 3mm plywood and available in multiple formats.

3. BellaBewitchedMinis - Wonderful furniture

When it comes to miniaturized collectibles, especially miniature dollhouse dolls, the term 'tiny' can take on new meaning. These aren't just small figures; these dolls can be scaled down to such a small scale, that they can fit the tiniest houses.

The most common scale for dollhouses and their components is 1:12, meaning one inch in the doll world is equivalent to one foot in ours. However, for those who adore the exceptionally small, scales can go down to 1:24 or 1:48 or even smaller. These dolls are often less than an inch tall but are just as detailed as their larger counterparts.

Discovering Unique Characters Among Tiny Dolls

Let's go ahead and look for some tiny dollhouse dolls with a bit of character! Why? Because there is more out there than just pink Barbie, right?

1. CosyDolls by Agne Mikalauskiene

The artist's love for dolls began when she received her first one at the age of four, and her collection has been growing ever since!

After graduating from the Art Academy in Kaunas in 2007, she became a dedicated dollmaker.

Always curious, the artist loves experimenting with various materials like textiles, polymer clay, ceramics, resin, and porcelain.

She has spent countless hours perfecting the anatomy of her dolls, and her skills have improved rapidly.

Drawing inspiration from fashion, history, people, books, and stories, the artist never stops learning and evolving.

I've seen her creative and peculiar work a lot on social media (her Instagram), and she keeps amazing me with each new creation. With every doll she makes, she shares a piece of character indeed!

These dolls are on a scale of 1:12.

2. JQCrochetCo by Sarah Nguyen

Sarah Nguyen creates very small miniature dolls and a few other miniatures, but the special thing about these is that they are all crocheted!

From top to bottom, clothes and shoes and faces included, all are created with crochet, so the entire doll.

Lots of them also have some cute accessories, like wings :-)

The sizes are a bit variable but about 3.3 cm (1.3 in) high, it can be a bit more or less. Talk about tiny dolls!

3. Toutebagaiminiatures by Patricia Robertson and her vintage-style dolls

We can't skip our classical dolls in Victorian style and other vintage pieces, now can we?

Unfortunately, I don't see her presence on social media, so I don't know the story, but most of the dolls have a vintage style (Victorian), are handmade, and have quite some character in them!

Oh, and they are on a scale of 1:12!

4. Tiny and Peculiar Dolls by Sally Freeman

The last miniature dolls, but not the least, are by Sally Freeman from the UK.

These dolls are hand-crafted with exquisite detail. One little girl doll stood out, measuring just over 2 inches (5.25 cm) tall and fully poseable. She’s made from polymer clay, wire, fabric, paint, padding, and wool.

Her padded wire frame allows her to sit, stand, bend at the elbows, shoulders, knees, and hips, and move her head and waist.

Her face and hands are painted with top-quality pigments, and her inset eyes are glazed for a realistic touch. The shoes, sculpted from polymer clay, are non-removable.

Each doll is a one-of-a-kind (OOAK) masterpiece, and the artist takes custom orders to meet your needs.

One of these days (maybe weeks or months lol), I am going to 'hack' another dollhouse kit (I have done so before with Simons' Coffee by Robotime) , and I am thinking about transforming one into a miniature bar as a tribute to David Bowie.

I am sure that adding a 1:24 scale doll or 2 can really enhance the diorama :-)

Do you ever catch yourself getting lost in the world of unique miniatures, whether it’s flipping through a dollhouse magazine or scrolling on social media? I know I do. There’s so much creativity out there, and I’m constantly amazed by what people can make on such a tiny scale.

In this post, I want to take you on a little world tour of some incredible miniature artists and collectors I’ve come across.

These are the kinds of miniatures that make you pause and go, “Wait, how did they even do that?”

Mariangela Gagliardi from Cosediunaltromondo

Let’s start in Italy, in the city of Milan, with the incredibly talented Mariangela Gagliardi — you might know her from Instagram under the name Cosediunaltromondo.

She makes everything by hand, without molds, and always in 1:12 scale — and the detail she manages to achieve is just amazing. From realistic miniature food to tiny dolls, furniture, and animals, her work feels like it belongs in a storybook (or a gourmet kitchen).

One of the pieces that really caught my eye is her French Louis XV-style secretary desk in a beautiful walnut finish; so tiny, but so elegant. And just look at this white crib she made… I mean, how cute is that?

There’s honestly so much to explore in her shop, so if you love traditional styles and incredible detailing, she’s definitely worth a look.

Letrang Sao from Vietnam.

Did you know that the Far East is full of incredibly talented miniaturists? If you spend any time scrolling on Instagram, chances are you’ve stumbled across one of those accounts where you just instantly hit the “follow” button. For me, Letrang Sao from Vietnam is one of those creators.

Her work is sleek, stylish, and so polished. She creates both 1:12 and 1:6 scale furniture, along with miniature musical instruments, and everything she makes has this elegant, high-end feel to it that really stands out.

Other than these, there are a number of intriguing dollhouse furniture pieces like chairs and tables, and more!

MiniCrafts by Aga - Poland

Next stop: Poland, where I came across the sweetest dollhouses and furniture, mostly in soft pastel colors. Many of them have that cozy Shabby Chic feel, light, romantic, and full of charm.

These are mostly cottage-style houses, decorated both inside and out, and packed with tiny furniture and accessories. They’re built in 1:12 scale, so they’ll mix perfectly with most standard dollhouse items if you’re thinking of adding a few pieces to your own collection.

They really are little dream houses: gentle colors, beautiful details, and just the right amount of whimsy.

English Genuine Art and Craft by ShabChippyMiniWorld from France!

Now we're heading over to France, where you’ll find another beautiful and unique collection of handmade miniatures: most of them in a romantic Shabby Chic style.

What I really love about this artist is how they upcycle old dollhouse furniture and turn it into something completely fresh and elegant. Every time I see a new piece pop up, I’m amazed by the creativity. There’s just something so satisfying about giving old miniatures a new life.

Last, but not least: FancyandChic (USA)

If you love romantic, high-end miniature furniture, FancyandChic is a shop you need to see. Based in Texas, this Etsy store is filled with gorgeous handmade 1:12 scale pieces, and every single item looks like it could belong in a real designer home: just tiny!

The attention to detail is what really makes this shop special. Think carved woodwork, elegant paint finishes, and soft, pastel color palettes that give every piece a cozy yet luxurious vibe. I especially love their delicate chairs and dressers, they have that perfect Shabby Chic touch I can never resist.

It’s one of those shops where I keep scrolling, bookmarking everything, and mentally redecorating my dollhouse… and maybe your house will need a little furniture update after seeing these, too!

When I take a look at professional miniature artists' work, I try to divide each into sections like (wooden) dollhouse furniture (kits), miniature art, miniature plants, miniature clothes, and so on, and go over each of them.

Which sometimes can be something long-winded, to say the least haha, but I'm more than happy to do this for you, so let's go!

1. Finished wooden dollhouse furniture.

Not that the other miniatures aren't fantastic, but the finished miniature furniture pieces are amongst my favorites, and they caught my eyes and my total attention on Instagram!

Lots of these are so colorful and vibrant and quite original, in my opinion.

They are on a scale of 1:12 or 1:16 and I have even seen one on a scale of 1:24 and made from either walnut wood, cedar wood, or birch plywood, sometimes combined with a piece of synthetic felt, which gives them a unique look.

2. Wooden dollhouse furniture kits.

There are a lot of DIY dollhouse kits on the market, but not so many actual dollhouse furniture kits, besides the vintage House Of Miniatures brand, for example.

So I am always happy to see that there are more choices out there for these types of kits, and these look quite nice, I might be biased haha!

These kits are on different scales as well: 1:12, 1:24, and 1:16, and sometimes can be created in 2 different scales, like the "glass" miniature table in the picture below (this is made from acrylic and lucite).

The rest of the dollhouse furniture kits are made from materials like plywood, walnut wood, and Baltic birch.

These kits are laser cut and arrive to you flatly packed and ready for quick and easy assembly while using wood or craft glue works perfectly.

You could leave the dollhouse furniture just like it is, but of course, you can decorate and paint them any way you like in any colors of your preference.

3. Miniature Art Work.

What can I say, other than I love these tiny pieces of modern art?

If I had a modern dollhouse, these would definitely fit in it, just take a closer look at the pictures below!

There are tiny paintings, totems, sculptures, and more.

4. Miniature plants

Are you tired of having to water and care for your real plants? Look no further than the miniature plant collection from 3StarStudioArts!

These adorable little plants may not be real, but they require absolutely no maintenance. No more worrying about watering, pruning, or fertilizing your plants :-)

Their store has a lot of succulents and cactuses, but there are so many other types of miniature plants available, that it looks impossible for me to mention them all ;-)

They are handmade and seem to be (hand)made from acrylic, vinyl, brass, terracotta,... These include the pots, so go check them out!

5. Miniature Rugs

Miniature rugs can be a charming addition to any dollhouse and come in a variety of styles and patterns, ranging from traditional Persian designs to modern geometric shapes.

This latter style is created by 3StarStudioArts and their miniature rugs add a sense of coziness and warmth to the rooms.

They can work on any scale: 1:6, 1:12, 1:16, 1:18, and 1:24, depending on the size that you prefer, and are made from synthetic felt, acrylic dye, etc.

Whether you're a serious collector or just looking for a cute accent piece, miniature rugs are a fun and unique way to express your creativity and add personality to your miniature world!

6. Miniature Houseware.

It is in the little details, no pun intended, and miniature houseware can add that "panache" to any miniature setting.

3StarStudioArts creates little things like room dividers and mini clocks, adding a touch of realism and sophistication to your dollhouse.

These miniature housewares are in a modern style and are made from different kinds of materials, like birch plywood, maple wood, and air-dry clay.

Today we are crossing the Atlantic, all the way to the UK, to admire all the pretty dollhouse accessories by "Lennie's Tiny World" :-)

As mentioned in a previous blog post, I have been reaching out to some more fantastic miniature artists worldwide, because I thought it was time to also have some more small miniature sellers out there in the spotlights.

Let's just dive straight into Lennie's tiny world today, are you with me?

But First, Who Is Lennie from Lennie's Tiny World?

To know a little bit more about Lennie and her wonderful dollhouse accessories, we first got in touch through my Facebook group, I think it was. :-)

She is from Norwich, the United Kingdom, and is on Etsy since 2020.

So here's her little story, in her own words:

Lennies Miniature Influences

Lennie is influenced by real-life influencers, her followers (have you seen my blog post on Instagram influencers yet?), and her childhood memories.

She has been imagining tiny things ever since she could remember. The most talented artists out there inspire her very much.

Which are the crafting materials that she uses and more.

Lennie is a self-taught miniature artist who does research, gets the books that she needs, and experiments with materials, while sometimes waisting some materials on trial and error sessions :-) (again, recognizable Lennie! haha)

She mainly uses wood, cardstock, fabric, faux leather, and clay, whatever works. This can be air-dry paper clay or porcelain clay.

Also, she is in the process of experimenting with resin and polymer.

Over time, Lennie has built wonderful friendships in the miniature world and some very special ones have led her to suppliers or people that have helped or assisted her in one way or another. ( I love that! )

If something is beyond her skills, she purchases the basic products, so it saves her time to finish an item that she has been wanting to make.

( I do exactly the same Lennie, with my fairy houses! )

When she thinks of something to make, she cannot stop thinking about it until she starts trying.

She has a Cricut machine and now learning to use cardstock for her tiny houses.

If she has a nagging urge to create, she gives some of her minis away to allow room in the crafting area lol ?. (again, so recognizable haha!)

Let's go through her Etsy store step by step and take a look at all the different items in there!

1. Miniature Jewelry

Lennie has created lots of beautiful miniature jewelry and displays for the jewelry.

All 8 of them (so far), are on a scale of 1:12, are handmade

The materials used are resin, lace, filigrees, beads, glue, satin ribbon, acrylic paint, egg carton, micro beads, micro gems, and even natural sea shells.

I think these look quite unique, no?

2. Miniature bags, purses and shoes.

All these miniature bags are on a scale of 1:12 and they look so cute!

The materials used for these are: faux leather, cardstock, miniature buckles, micro sequins, microbeads, and metallic elements.

Ohw, and don't forget these adorable pair of miniature high-heeled shoes in different colors and a shoe box. Length of the shoes - approx 2cm and width approx 1cm, also on scale 1:12.

3. Cute little Easter miniatures

Holiday-themed miniatures are amongst my favorites and Lennie has a few pretty ones as well.

Take a look at the cute little bunny slippers on a scale of 1:12, made from satin fabric, faux leather, cardstock, microbeads, and glue.

The adorable miniature plush bunny is suitable on both a 1:6th scale and a 1:12th scale.

4. Bathroom and nursery miniatures

Get your little miniature bathroom accessories at Lennie's, that rhymes ;-)

She creates miniature collectibles which include: A folded towel with a bow,
a rolled towel, a seashell, a soap bar, and soap bottles fixed on a tray that are not removable.

Also, the little diapers are so cute!

5. Beautiful miniature scenes.

These complete miniature scenes from Lennie are amongst my personal favorites.

6. Haberdashery

And last, but surely not least are the little miniature scenes that include miniature sewing-related things and haberdashery.

Tyleen Barker is from Kamloops, Canada, and is selling miniatures, and other things as well, and she is on Etsy since 2017.

How did she learn how to create miniatures?

She learned to make minis through a lot of experimenting and trial by error, practice, and watching videos done by some amazing miniaturists.

The materials she uses to create largely depend on what she is making.

She uses anything she can find to create the desired look from organic materials (nature, rocks, leaves, etc. to polymer clay, resin, photopolymer, acrylic, fabrics, beads, and scrap odds and ends)

From Delicious Miniature Dollhouse Food To Miniature Animals And More, she has it all!

Everything you see here or in her store is handmade with care and all miniatures can be customized into charms or even fridge magnets!

It is not easy to answer the question of which miniatures Tyleen is selling, because where do I start haha?!

So I will give it a try and answer this in different sections:

1. Miniature dollhouse food.

Personally, these are my favorite miniatures from her store, everything looks so "tasty" and breathtaking, even better than real-size food haha!

2. Miniature animals.

In Tyleens' store, there are small little miniature animals that look incredibly lifelike!

Take a look at the black kitten, hedgehog, turtle, frog, chameleon, birds and more!

They seem to be all on a scale of 1:12.

3. Miniature Decor

There are over 45 miniature decoration pieces, so it is kind of impossible to sum everything up here.

But I can definitely say that they are very much worth checking out! Just take a look at the little Croc shoes, for example, aren't they cute?

4. Jewelry with miniatures

These are miniatures attached to jewelry, in the form of a necklace or keychain.

How about a little whine bottle, a cute little seahorse ( great for collectors!), a little candy charm and more, around your neck? ;-)

I would wear those for sure, why not, miniatures are my passion haha! Would you?

5. Holiday-themed minis.

Darn, I'm probably too late (again) to write about Easter miniatures? lol!

Anyway, Tyleen has some new miniatures out in the Easter theme and my gosh, these are amazing!

There are also other holiday miniatures available, like Christmas miniatures, Halloween, and Valentine's.

6. Miniature plants and trees.

What can I say without repeating myself? These miniature plants and pots are quite unique and lovely as well!

And the miniature bird baths are amazing, I love them!

You just need to be quick if you want them, sometimes there's only one available ;-)

7. Vintage Miniatures

And last, but not least, Tyleen is selling a lot of brass and vintage miniatures.

I have no words left to say how wonderful these are, in my opinion :-)

These are vintage/antique pieces only and can be quite rare.

Handmade Dollhouse number 2: White Wooden dollhouse

This wooden and homemade dollhouse represents a villa is white, is engraved, and includes white pieces of miniature furniture.

All elements can be put together without screws.

I love the look of it!

Homemade Dollhouse number 3: a dollhouse in a suitcase!

Not a "dollhouse" exactly, but this suitcase is suitable as one! And if you just close it, it becomes portable so that you can take it with you everywhere ;-)

Homemade Dollhouse number 4: a portable and foldable dollhouse

Another portable dollhouse, but this time not in a suitcase, but a wooden and foldable one.

It says it is an "Amish" handcrafted dollhouse, but I'm not sure why it is Amish.

This dollhouse looks modern, and I love its wooden and sturdy look of it!

It isn't always easy to find someone who can create a custom dollhouse for you, but this creator can!

Homemade Dollhouse number 6: A French cottage house

A compact, handcrafted miniature house with French cottage charm—perfect for collectors with limited space. It features a curved wooden door, stone façade, and a gated arbor entrance.

Inside, it’s fully lit (12V with transformer) and includes hand-laid maple floors, a glowing fireplace, a crystal chandelier, an artist’s workspace, and hand-painted artwork. The detailed garden has flowers, a patio set, a bird fountain, and a small lantern. Fully finished and ready to display.

Dollhouse number 7: a cottage dollhouse on a scale of 1:48

Sometimes you don't want something to play with, but just admire the hell out of it. This English cottage little house has a size-30×31×28cm. So that's tinier than the usual 1:12 scale, I presume. Just meant for decoration, but there is even furniture included!

Have you ever seen homemade dollhouses this tiny?

Dollhouse number 10: A Lauren Victorian dollhouse

This is a very large dollhouse, that you would need to assemble yourself, but what a challenge!

It is a DIY dollhouse puzzle, which means that you do have some work to do, but the result is a copy of a home in Laurel Delaware in the US, and its design is in the Gothic style.

This house has 3 stores and has striking detail in its millwork and gorgeous colonial windows.

Dollhouse number 11: Vintage Brumberger Tudor style

This Brumberger #765 Wooden Dollhouse Kit is an original vintage find from the late 1970s. It’s a Tudor-style wooden house kit that comes unassembled in its original box. Once built, it measures about 20.5″ × 11″ × 12.5″ and features several rooms ready for decorating. A great piece for collectors or anyone who enjoys working with classic vintage dollhouse kits.

This dollhouse room box is quite peculiar! It represents an abandoned house with a post-apocalyptic look.

This OOAK piece has an intentional dilapidated feeling, made from balsa wood and foam core. And it is very realistic!

Dollhouse number 20: tiny 1:144 scale dollhouse

This 1:144-scale dollhouse kit is unbelievably tiny—really, it fits nearly in the palm of your hand. At 1:144 scale each part is just a fraction the size of a standard dollhouse kit.
You’ll get a laser-cut wooden kit requiring careful assembly and fine detail work. Once built, it becomes a micro-miniature house you can decorate, furnish, and display.

We have found another tiny one ;-) This wooden dollhouse/log cabin is on a scale of 1:144 and utterly adorable, isn't it?

Dollhouse number 22: A Hearts Desire Creation

This is another one of the tiny homemade dollhouses on a scale of 1:144, and it is fully finished, so not a kit :-)

It's handmade, white with a blue roof, and ready to get furnished with your dollhouse furniture. If you can find any on that scale?

A very pretty and elegant Chinoiserie room box.

Now, the Shabby-Chic style is really among my favorite styles, just like the Tudor style. When someone then creates this tiny Shabby Chic dollhouse that is the size of a dollhouse IN a dollhouse, that makes it even more fun! Love this!

I could definitely see the reasons why people would get addicted to miniature cooking.

If we are talking about Miniature cooking, you should take it quite literally, because it really means cooking with tiny portions of real food.

There are lots of famous channels on YouTube where dishes are prepared in miniature form with extreme precision.

So let's go and dive into these peculiar little (and working!) miniature kitchens!

What Is Miniature Cooking in a mini kitchen?

The nice thing about Miniature cooking is that it is indeed real cooking.

These miniature kitchens, for example, can contain real working mixers, a working mini stove, and a mini oven where you can even bake your own mini pizza. You can also add a REAL working miniature TV to the scenery! Sometimes there's even running water!

There are even miniature cooking books on the market, with plenty of recipes to recreate very small dishes at home in miniature sizes.

And even those miniature cooking books are just a few centimeters large.

Everything is so small that you sometimes need tweezers to put the ingredients in place.

Because with your human fingers, sprinkling a bit of salt or oregano on a pizza would be a bit hard.

What Is The Actual Point Of Miniature Cooking?

Well, first of all, it is a fantastic form of dieting and you will lose weight in no time!

*sarcasm button of :-)

So what exactly is this attraction to miniature cooking, where sometimes over 200 million people worldwide watch a miniature cooking show for minutes and minutes, while someone is making a miniature lasagna?

I think it is because there is something extremely soothing about seeing someone preparing a very small meal with extreme precision.

There is something mesmerizing and relaxing about watching a miniature knife cutting ingredients to miniature size, while a mini spoon is stirring in mini pans and bowls.

And watching a bit of cheese being grated into mini strings on the world's smallest grater makes my mouth water.

Is Miniature cooking real and Is the food in a tiny kitchen real?

Of course in a tiny kitchen not everything there is real food. (spoiler alert, the mini-eggs aren't real eggs)

There is a distinction between edible miniature food, like we are talking about in this blog post, and inedible mini food.

But the miniature food that is being prepared in the next YouTube videos below sure is real and miniature cooking itself is definitely real! You could eat the dishes if you want!

Although the recipes are sometimes a bit different than the recipes from real cooking because that makes the mini food look better and more realistic.

A list of the best miniature cooking shows and Youtube channels

So, the question of how to actually do miniature cooking, can't be answered by me, because I have never tried it myself.

But I'm sure that you will learn all there is to know by means of the next YouTube channels!

1. Tiny Kitchen by Tastemade

" Tiny Kitchen" is a part of Tastemade: a YouTube channel that publishes a lot of videos about food.

The first video about miniature cooking, appearing online in the year of 2016, got 39 million views on Facebook.

What was on the menu in the first Tiny Kitchen video? Well, this: "How to make tiny donuts?" :-)

In the meantime, there are 73 mini-videos on this channel.

Jay Holzer was head of the production of the series and he and his team came up with miniature cooking ideas after Japan started originally making videos of people making miniature food.

When they got a package with mini cooking equipment, they decided to shoot more of these videos, and soon an entire season was shot.

Even the dollhouse of Jay's daughter became a film set for the first season of Tiny Kitchen.

So you could say that this channel paved the way for miniature cooking in Amerika, although they seem to have stopped now.

2. Alex's Miniature Cooking

Alex Apostel shared her miniature cooking channel on my Facebook group, and I found the video that she shared where she is using a miniature blender that actually works very cutely.

In the video below, she made a miniature watermelon milkshake in her mini kitchen that is real and edible, even though it's as tiny as the thumb of your hand!

She also has unboxing videos, where she shares all the miniature equipment that she bought.

Alex now has 138 videos and 52,2 K subscribers to her channel, and I'm one of them ;-) How about you?

3. Mini Cooking

Wow, another fantastic channel on cooking tiny food, and it looks immensely popular.

Mini Cooking has 1,33 Million subscribers with only 44 videos. So the finished miniature food is very well filmed and the results are incredible!

In the video below, she even goes "shopping" for ingredients first, before she makes real and tiny sushi ;-)

4. My Re-ment mini kitchen

And last but not least there is this mini-cooking channel with 235 videos at the moment!

In the video below, you can watch this lady's story on how she got to the miniature kitchen again, so interesting! ;-)

What I find amazing as well, is that there actually are real miniature eggs being used, with real-looking egg yolks, isn't that intriguing?!

I'm sure that there are lots more channels to find out there, I could go on forever!

But let's talk next about what you could need to start doing this yourself ;-)

Where to get the best miniature cooking sets?

My favorite place to buy any miniature-related things has always been Etsy, so I looked on there again and here we go ;-)

1. Real Working Miniature cooking stoves.

• By Bec Boutique Creations: real cooking doll stove, made from iron. Made for doll play and real cooking.
  

• By Mini Kitchen Chef (yeah, an ideal name for our topic haha). This store from Bulgaria has a few interesting and pretty miniature cooking stoves!
  

• By Magic Mini House. This store has lots of different miniature cooking tools, stoves, and other machines.
  Even a miniature water tap is present in this store!

2. Real working miniature cooking pans.

We are now heading to the cooking pots, but in miniature size, and you can still cook with them :-)

• By Croco Studios. This store sells a lot of miniature cooking cookware, mostly in copper.
  I think they are very stylish!
  

• By Mini Lovie. What a lovely little store, selling unique miniature cooking utensils! Just take a look at the link below!
  
  

3. Miniature real working mixer.

  This store has an amazing collection of miniature real-working mixers and other working things like a soda dispenser!
  

4. Miniature cooking supplies

Off course, you need a lot more stuff for your real working miniature kitchen.
