Before writing this blog post, I have been asking around on Facebook groups what people consider to be the cheapest dollhouse kits on the market, and most of them agreed that they would need to be under about $50.
But, there are so many under $50,00, that I decided to go as far as under $40,00, to get an even tinier budget.
So for this article, I will be looking up dollhouse kits from around that price or less.
UPDATED 22.09.23
If you are, however, looking for the best DIY miniature kits on the market, then you can always check out this blog post here.
As an Amazon and Etsy associate, I earn from purchases, with no extra costs for you, however.
Is buying the cheapest dollhouse kits worth it though?
I will try to answer this question first.
As I asked myself this question: if these dollhouse kits are this cheap or affordable, can they still have good quality and wouldn’t I be buying a cat in a bag, frustrations included?
Well, I believe it depends on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for a large dollhouse kit, then obviously, you will not find those in this article.
And I would assume if you are looking for fancy kits in a certain theme, like Victorian or Tudor style ones, you would need to pay a price which will be a lot higher than $40,00 as well.
That being said: there sure are a lot of cheap dollhouse kits out there on the market that you can enjoy, just realize that they won’t be very expanded, large, or luxurious, yet they CAN have quality!
Let’s just dive straight into all the cheapest dollhouse kits that I found out there!
The most affordable dollhouse kits, per brand!
I had to think about how I would organize all of the kits, so I decided to split them up into all the different brands.
1. The cheapest dollhouse kits from Robotime.
As you might know by now, I am quite fond of Robotime/Rolife. So let’s give it a go and try to find the most affordable ones. (under $40,00), including a short review)
- 1. Jason’s Kitchen
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – One of the first kits from this brand, and remains quite popular – durable materials – Easy to assemble, never saw anyone mention issues – very affordable |
Contra’s | – the design might a bit too simple for you – Lots of people “hack” this mini-kit – you would need additional tools |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | about 14 hours |
- 2. Soho Time
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – good quality – great for customizing – very affordable – should be rather easy to make |
Contra’s | – It looks like there is quite some wirework there, which can be hard and annoying for some people – I don’t really like the design, but your opinion can be different |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | 12 hours |
- 3. Joy’s Peninsula Living Room
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – I think this design is lovely and I love the colors! – detailled instructions and easy assembled – affordable DIY kit |
Contra’s | – a lot of tools are not included, so you would need to purchase them separately |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | about 14 hours |
- 4. Nancy’s Bake Shop
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – Very affordable DIY kit – the baker shop is a fun design – durable materials |
Contra’s | – The instructions of this one could be better |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | 14 hours |
- 5. Jimmy’s Studio
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – this kit doesnt look to difficult to make, as there are hardly plants and few wirework – you don’t need a lot of time to assemble this one – sturdy materials – people “hack” this one a lot, so you can let your imagination run wild on this one |
Contra’s | – instructions are sometimes confusing |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | 14 hours |
- 6. Holiday Party Time
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – An orginal and cheerfull design which I haven’t seen much before – can be finished rather fast |
Contra’s | – It can be a little bit to small for you – not enough reviews yet because it is a recent design. So the 5 stars have to be handeled with care. |
Our Ratings | 5/5 |
Hours to Make | 12 hours |
- 7. Happy Camper
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – A Very Affordable DIY house kit – campers like this are quite unique, I think there is only one more like it – quickly made/easy to assemble |
Contra’s | – the walls are cardboard, not wood, so not as sturdy – unclear instructions on the wirework |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | 12 hours |
- 8. Spring Encounter Flowers
Brand | Robotime |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – small kit which should be quickly made – very affordable – we couldn’t miss out on a greenhouse kit, now could we? 🙂 |
Contra’s | – It’s quite hard to find a good review, as it isn’t bought or made as much |
Our Ratings | 4/5 |
Hours to Make | 12 |
I am sure that this list of the cheapest dollhouse kits from Robotime could be expanded, but I tend to find that the remaining ones are very tiny, so I decided to keep those for another article 😉
2. The cheapest dollhouse kits from Cutebee
Cutebee is a little bit different than Robotime, so I wanted to list this brand separately.
Usually, you can kind off see the difference between these two brands, as both have a particular design and are recognizable.
Although sometimes it gets confusing on which one is which because when you type in “Cutebee” in Google, lots of other brands of DIY kits still show up.
But I think that I can make the distinction between the brands by now (I hope 😉 )
I have found a few kits under $40,00, let’s go!
- 1. Cake Diary shop
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | This is more like 1:22, although they claim it is 1:24 |
Pro’s | – should include a music box and dustcover – easy to assemble – great value for money |
Contra’s | – unclear instructions – no good tools included |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | up to 15 hours |
- 2. Japanese Garden House
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | More like a 1:22 scale |
Pro’s | – the advantage of other brands then Robotime is that there are a lot more Asian style dollhouse kits, and I love this design! – seeing the size of this kit with the multiple rooms, I say this is very affordable! – no need to paint anything or no frustrating wirework |
Contra’s | – no English instructions or poor instructions |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | it says 4 to 8 hours, but my guess is that this would take a lot more time! |
- 3. Sweet talk.
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | 1: 22 |
Pro’s | – a very small kit, quickly made – lovely designed cakes and sweets – very affordable DIY mini kit |
Contra’s | – no crafting tools included – as always, labeling and instructions could be better |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | about 6 hours seems sufficient |
- 4. Blue Time
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | 1: 22 |
Pro’s | – challenging but not hard to do – doesn’t include pieces that are hard to assemble, like wirework – not complicated |
Contra’s | – no good tools or glue included – sometimes parts are missing |
Our Ratings | 4/5 |
Hours to Make | about 12 hours |
- 5. Corner of living room
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | 1: 22 |
Pro’s | – small and quickly made kit – very affordable price |
Contra’s | – unclear instructions – not an overwhelming amount of minis |
Our Ratings | 4/5 |
Hours to Make | 8-10 hours would be sufficient |
- 6. Wait for The Time
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | 1: 22 |
Pro’s | – the manual should be in English – a pretty expanded project for a very fair price |
Contra’s | – Beware of the price: it is higher on the website from Cutebee then on Amazon – Not all pieces fit together perfectly, so you have to be able to adjust to a certain situation |
Our Ratings | 4/5 |
Hours to Make | minimum 15 hours, more like 30 |
- 7. Happy Corner- Box theater
Brand | Cutebee |
Scale | Unknown looks smaller than 1:24 to me |
Pro’s | – Very unique design in a metal box, cute! – this can is surprisingly detailed |
Contra’s | – very tiny, can be difficult for some people – the instructions for the wired lights are very unclear |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | 12 hours |
That’s it for today for the cheapest dollhouse kits from Cutebee 😉
3. The cheapest dollhouse kits from other brands.
Furthermore on this list, there are not that many other brands to find that are as affordable under the amount of $40,00.
But I found a kit or 2 extra 😉
- 1. Happy Kitchen
Brand | Cuteroom |
Scale | 1: 24 |
Pro’s | – very small and quickly made kit – very affordable – easy to assemble – suitable for kids 10 years and older |
Contra’s | – not very detailed – hardly any instructions |
Our Ratings | 4,5/5 |
Hours to Make | about 10 hours |
- 2. Panxi Tea House
Brand | Hongda, I presume 😉 |
Scale | 1: 22 |
Pro’s | – Original Chinese design DIY kit – very affordable for the size – sturdy materials |
Contra’s | – assembling the lights is complicated – instructions not in English – be careful when cutting the paper bits |
Our Ratings | 4/5 |
Hours to Make | about 14 hours |

Hi everyone!
My name is Lizzy, and I am an amateur miniaturist obsessed with everything in the dollhouse and miniature world, ever since I was a teenager.
So far, I have created 2 dollhouse projects, a backyard shed and a miniature treehouse, tons of DIY dollhouse kits, and “hacked” some.
I also created a fairy garden, and lots of small and simple miniature projects on my YouTube channel. (mostly made from trash or everyday items).
I love to write as well about all things happening in the miniature world, hence the reason why I created this blog!
I wish you happy reading and crafting!

Oh wow, I didn’t know there were so many dollhouse kits. With the abundance of reasonably priced dollhouse kits available on today’s market, you may not be able to experience a sprawling mansion or extravagance in design. Nonetheless, these simplistic sets can still offer excellent craftsmanship and quality! It was nice to see a great overview of the cheapest dollhouse kits.
Hi there!
Oh yes, there is an abundance of DIY dollhouse kits these days on the market, from little ones to big mansions, you could keep on crafting forever and ever haha!
Enjoy!
Kind regards,
Lizzy
I used to wonder what’s with tiny dollhouses that got my youngest sister hooked into collecting as many as she could. But when I saw her collection, they were just so adorable! Thus, I want to buy her one for her upcoming birthday.
I am so glad I came across your post on the cheapest dollhouses. How can something so pretty be so affordable? ☺ Under $50 is already cheap but when I checked out these dollhouses one by one, there are those that cost as low as $15.00 on Amazon because they are on SALE.
However, I also didn’t know that it generally takes a long time to put them together. Now I know why my sister said that she usually completes setting up one dollhouse in about a week. That is because she doesn’t do it in one sitting.
Anyway, thank you for putting this post together.
Hi Alice!
You are very welcome and I wish you and your younger sister a lot of crafting fun when assembling these 😉
Kind regards,
Lizzy
